Searley Owen was founded by Jade and Louise in 2018, after building their recruitment experience across a wide range of sectors including Defence, Aerospace, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering, IT, Sales & Marketing, Procurement and Commercial roles.

As an independent, founder-led recruitment business, we've always wanted to do things a little differently. That means taking the time to properly understand the businesses we work with, building genuine relationships with the people behind them and focusing on long-term partnerships rather than simply filling vacancies.

Over the years, we've found that we add the most value when working closely with business leaders in Engineering, Manufacturing and scaling businesses. In these environments, recruitment decisions are rarely just about filling a role. They're often closely connected to where the business is going, the challenges it's facing and the team the founders or leadership need around them to get there.

Being based in Essex and working predominantly with businesses across the region gives us the opportunity to build those relationships properly. We can meet regularly, get to know the wider business and have conversations that often start well before there's a job description or vacancy to fill.

Louise is also part of the Essex Skills Board, working alongside Essex Chambers of Commerce and the Local Skills Improvement Plan to help shape the skills agenda across the county.
